Just about everygame I have ever been too, regardless of who it was against or what school was playing, there are normally one group of morons in the every bunch.
No sure of the exact rule maby one of our Refs can fill us in on the call but I was thinking that in HS that contact(not holding) was OK before the ball is in the air
Yes you can have contact with the receiver down field as long as you are not holding him and it must be before the ball is thrown.
This wasn't just contact with the receiver. The receiver came and cracked down on the OLB covering the inside reciever setting a flat out pick which is illegal.
The way I understand it so long as it was not a block in the back and it was not going on while the ball was in the air it is legal Right? What exactly is the rule on blocking for screens? is it a 3 yard zone(From the LOS) where you can block even with the ball in the air I can not remember but I think it is something like that
I don't believe it was a screen I seen Dockery slant in and just start blocking the OLB and while that happened the WR just went down the field with no one on him. It's not a big deal I was just wondering if it was legal or not
Legal as long as the ball is not in the air but if he is blocking while the ball is in the air then no. On a screen as long as the pass is behind the line of scrimmage you can block all the way down field. Now that goes both ways. If the pass is behind the line of scrimmage and there is contact on the receiver before the ball gets to him then it is not pass interference it could be called holding depending on what contact is made. As long as the ball is behind the line then there is no pass interference.

It may not be a penalty but it sure doesn't make alot of sense if an offensive receiver is allowed to go and set an intentional pick on a defensive back attempting to cover another receiver even if the ball is still in the QB's hands. Its definitely a penalty in the NFL and should be a penalty in H.S. as well. If its not against the rules in H.S. then every team should be running crossing patterns and having the back side receivers take out the opposing DB's. All you would have to do is run a twins set and send the outside receiver in and set a pick on the db covering the flanker and the flanker run an out or out and up or streak or about anything...i don't see how anyone could stop it if they were in a man. You would have to run a zone to have a chance against that and its still going to be tough because the guy who is responsible for that zone is going to have to fight through a pick just to get to his area of coverage.

Most teams do this to some extent the problem is that as a rule WRs make sorry blockers and tend to hold, clip and do lots of other bad things(LOL) plus it is pass inteferanceif they are still blocking when the ball leaves the QBs hand
Another rule that is different at the HS level than it is at other levels is face guarding or should I say lack of it
I believe the face guarding rule is in affect this year in H.S. and should draw a flag.

You are right. There is now an addition to pass interference to include face guarding. This came into effect last year.
It will be pass interference if their actions directly affect the play.
